Tree Service in Martinsburg, WV

The Tree You Keep Looking At Isn't Getting Any Smaller

Timbershark is a licensed and insured tree service based in Martinsburg, WV, serving residential and commercial properties across West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia. Every job is guided by arborist principles, weighing a tree's structure, health and risk before recommending trimming or removal.

There's usually one tree that worries you: the dead limb over the driveway, the leaner too close to the roof. Timbershark evaluates what's actually going on first, so the plan matches the tree rather than a sales pitch. When a tree needs to come down near something you'd rather not damage, careful judgment is the whole job.

Locally Owned in Martinsburg

Someone Who Reads the Tree Before Recommending the Chainsaw

Timbershark handles the full range of tree work: removals when a tree is dead, damaged, or crowding a target, precision pruning that supports structure and health, stump removal, and storm cleanup that hauls the debris away instead of leaving it in your yard. Some of that is routine care you schedule ahead. Some of it is the call you make the morning after a storm.

What ties it together is judgment. Every recommendation starts by evaluating the tree's structure, condition, and what it's close to — because trimming and removal are not interchangeable, and the wrong call is expensive either way. Being locally owned means the person weighing that decision is the same one accountable for how the job turns out.

Meeting someone who has a mix of knowledge and passion meant an excellent experience was possible. He listened, suggested good things, and worked with joy and care. 7 trees and more taken care of and perfect timing before a storm. Our property is so much safer and the trees healthier now. Put him to work! He's up for it.

I had need of an emergency removal of a huge maple over my house. Reese not only handled it with the same sense of urgency I had , but was very personable in reassuring my house would be safe, and tree was safely on the ground quickly. I can't thank him enough. Dedicated to his craft, professional and personable.

My experience with Timbershark was fantastic! I had a drone stuck up about 35-40ft in a tree. I called Timbershark and asked if they would be able to get it down for me. Reese showed up the next day, right on time, and was super professional. This reminded me of a passage from Luke 16:10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much. I feel like this applies to Timbershark. I know he is super busy. He could have blown me off, he could have just ignored me. But he didn't. He took the time to help me out and I am so appreciative! So imagine how much effort and care he will put into your trees. The kind of customer service that Timbershark offered was a breath of fresh air to say the least. I would absolutely hire Timbershark again in the future. Keep up the good work!

I am very impressed with Timbershark. The crew arrived right on time, fully equipped, and the crew worked efficiently through the day. Some of the trees being removed required precarious cuts in limited space - so they used ropes and rigging to take the tree down in sections so nothing hit my roof, fence, or neighbor’s property. Reese also worked with our electrical provider to stop service during the removal of one of the trees . Reese is a great communicator and was knowledgable on each tree - so he offered great advice on trimming versus removal . After the cutting - the crew cleaned up every single branch and it was like they were never there. The price was fair and exactly what was quoted — no surprise add-ons. Timbershark works with several stump grinding companies and provided some talented and affordable stump removal options. If you need tree removal, trimming, or any tree service in the area, I recommend timbershark.

I've had property down on the Shenandoah river for 7 years now, and over that span of time have lost 1 car, 2 seadoos, a dock and somehow have avoided bodily injury- all from falling limbs/trees throughout the years. This year I arrived one day to find a 15 foot long branch in the area of the property where my tent campers normally setup. The idea that someone could have been seriously injured as a result of a limb that large, genuinely scared me. I looked around at several tree services and took a look at what services were offered, ultimately I decided to reach out to Timbershark and ask to schedule a time to meet up and have my trees assessed. Within 20 minutes (on a weekend) my phone rang and it was Reese Gelinas, the owner of and operator at Timbershark. He mentioned that he was out pricing a job in my area and asked if I had availability to meet that day. I provided an address and Reese texted me when he was on the way within 15 minutes. I explained my concerns and we discussed the challenges and decided to take a weight reduction approach on the massive Sycamore and some adjacent smaller trees. We scheduled a date a week out and went on about our weekend with a plan. First thing Monday morning I got a formal estimate and was able to contact Reese to ask questions and had it approved within the hour. There was an opening that popped up 4 days later and I was able to get the crew on site to start work before we planned which was perfect as we were preparing for the 4th of July that was fast approaching. I was able to watch the whole job and truly was impressed at the surgical removal of some massive limbs and how much better it looked when trimmed. All of it was fed to the coolest chipper I have ever seen!! it literally chewed up everything that was put in and the crew did an amazing job of cleaning up the property- raking included. Amazing experience from start to finish and I highly recommend Timbershark for any of your tree work- hands down the best!

Where We Work

One Storm Line Crosses Three States, and So Does Our Truck

From our base in Martinsburg, we serve homeowners and commercial properties across the corner where West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia meet. Storm season doesn't stop at a county line, and neither do the hazardous trees it leaves behind. One front can drop limbs in all three states in a single night.

Being local means we know the weather that drives most of this work and we're close enough to respond when it hits. Routine trimming or urgent damage, reach out and we'll figure out the timing together.

Before You Commit

See the Number Before You Decide Anything

Every job starts with a free estimate. Someone comes out, looks at the tree, and gives you a straightforward price along with the recommendation behind it — so you can weigh the cost against the risk without any obligation to move forward.

A few things you can count on with Timbershark:

Licensed and insured

the work is covered, which matters most when a large tree comes down near a structure.

Straightforward pricing

the number you approve is what the job is based on, without surprise add-ons after the crew arrives.

Clean job site

debris is hauled off when the work is done, not left for you to deal with.

Locally owned

the person quoting the job is accountable for how it finishes.

Good to Know

Does That Tree Need to Come Down, or Just Come Back?

Should I remove the tree or just have it trimmed?

It depends on what's actually wrong with it. A tree that's dead, badly damaged, or leaning toward something it could hit is usually a removal. A structurally sound tree that's simply overgrown or crowding a roof or line is often a pruning job. That's why the assessment happens in person — the recommendation should come from reading the specific tree, not a guess over the phone.

For planned pruning, late fall through winter is generally ideal, since dormant trees are easier to assess and shape without the full canopy in the way. Hazard and storm work, on the other hand, doesn't wait for a season — a dead limb over a driveway or a tree leaning on a house is worth handling whenever you notice it.

Removal takes the tree down, but the stump stays in the ground unless it's addressed separately. Grinding it out clears the tripping hazard and mower obstacle and lets the spot return to lawn. If you'd rather leave it, that's a choice too — it just tends to attract pests and rot over time.

Yes. Timbershark works with homeowners and commercial property managers alike, from a single hazardous tree in a backyard to trees and storm damage across a larger property. The approach is the same either way: assess the risk, recommend the right work, and clean up when it's done.

When You're Ready

Have Timbershark Look at It Before the Weather Does

Call or request a free estimate, and someone will come out to look at the tree, tell you honestly whether it needs removing or trimming, and give you a straightforward price. No obligation to go further.
